Our Community Supported Agriculture

Healthy Eating, Healthy Local Economy

Friday afternoon my wife and I went to pick up our weekly food share from the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Farm that we joined earlier this year – Moutoux Orchard in Loudoun County, Virginia.

This place is the best. Pesticide-free vegetables and fruits, hormone-free and grass-fed meats, raw whole milk from grass-fed cows, free range chickens and eggs, organic flours…

How does it work? Each member pays a monthly fee for a certain number of shares and then picks up their portion each week. Compared to when we did grocery shopping, we save money (we did our shopping at organic groceries before), we get more food and we get variety depending on what’s in season.

I like this because it’s supporting the land, our health, and the local economy.
