The World’s Oldest Art?

The other day I came across an article on ScienceMag.org about possibly the world’s oldest known artwork on a cave in Indonesia.

These spray-painted stencils of hands are estimated to be at least 40,000 years old! That is pretty cool. Can you imagine being alive 40,000 years ago? It’s mind-blowing.

I think that it’s equally mind-blowing to imagine human existence 40,000 years into the future, or even 1,000 years into the future! It makes me think that in the context of time, the length of our physical lives on Earth are so miniscule.
