Earlier this week my son Rafael turned 1 year old! How time flies. When he was at the 6 month mark, we were in Florida and took him to the beach for the first time. Ever since then, I’ve been slowwwwly painting an oil portrait of him from one of the photos we took. After recognizing that he’s 1 year old already, I decided that I really need to finish this painting! So, I’m almost done…probably needs a couple more hours of work to complete:
Secondly, over the weekend I’m hoping to finish a large 36″ x 48″ acrylic painting/mural for Loudoun Habitat for Humanity, which works to provide affordable housing solutions to low income families in Loudoun County, Virginia. Last night I finished sketching out what I’ll be painting, and here is a little preview (albeit with poor lighting!):
I’ll be using Liquitex acrylic paints (just bought a new set, pictured below!) as well as Golden Heavy Body Acrylic Paint. Buying paints, for me, is like getting a toy as a kid.
Lastly, a couple days ago, I got my Blick Art Catalog in the mail. I can read these like reading a novel!
