As much as I love painting, it’s hard to write about it all the time. So I thought I’d start writing about other things too, just because I like to write, and someone out there might find it interesting!
While I didn’t invent it, I know the baby formula recipe found in the Nourishing Traditions Book of Baby and Childcare like the back of my hand. I’ve whipped it up probably a couple hundred times at this point for both of my boys. Because once they start weening from the breast milk, their appetite doesn’t just go away. They just keep on growing, and this stuff has helped to make them sturdy little (big) guys!
Look at this list of ingredients and tell me you wouldn’t turn into Popeye if you drank it. Heck, I should start drinking it myself.
- Raw whole milk with cream
- Homemade liquid whey
- Bovine gelatin
- Acerola powder (vitamin C)
- Olive oil, sunflower oil, coconut oil, cod liver oil
- Yeast flakes
There are also variations of this recipe based on goat’s milk, and one based on liver (I made the liver version a few times for our oldest when he was younger).
