The Washington Monument from Arlington, VA

In my opinion, one of the prettiest drives in Northern Virginia is along the GW Parkway between Alexandria and Arlington. It runs right along the Potomac River, with views of Washington DC on the other side. There are great parks, as well as jogging and biking paths to get some exercise and recreation.

A few days ago we happened to be in Crystal City (on the southern end of Arlington), and on the mid-afternoon drive north along the GW Parkway, I snapped a photo of the Washington Monument on the other side of the river, which I turned into a watercolor painting.
