The inspiration for this seascape painting came from a beach on the Spanish island of Formentera, and the beautiful blue hues of the Mediterranean Sea!
The canvas is made of Texas-grown organic cotton and is hand-stretched and hand-primed. The wood stretcher bars are FSC-certified and the all-natural gesso primer is made of limestone power, French marble dust, water and a touch of honey.
The canvas measures 8″ in height and 20″ in length.

Enjoy the warm colors of the sun setting over gentle water with this oil painting of a Costa Rican sunset:
If you ever travel to southern Spain and want to go to the renowned Costa del Sol beaches, may I suggest an alternative to the bustling areas around Málaga?
Nerja:
Nerja is nestled into the east end of the Costa del Sol.
Beautiful cliffs, turquoise sea, Spanish cuisine, beaches, what more could you want?
When my wife and I were there, we stayed in a very small village next to Nerja named Maro, and took day trips to the beaches of Nerja.
Boy was it an adventure to get here. Playa Santa, literally translated as “Holy Beach”, lies somewhere along the southwestern coastline of Puerto Rico.
During our vacation in Puerto Rico, we stayed in San Juan and rented a car to drive around the island. After passing through the southern city of Ponce, we kept driving west and stopped at a gas station. I asked if there were any local beaches they’d recommend, and the guy gave some loose directions to get to one.
Relying on a mix of his directions and the usually-correct-but-not-always compass in my head, we drove through several country dirt roads before finally coming to this beach, named Playa Santa. It was a hidden gem!
The scene in this painting is of wild and tropical Corcovado, Costa Rica. Located on the southern Pacific coast of Costa Rica, Corcovado National Park contains the most biodiversity in the Western hemisphere!
While a Peace Corps Volunteer in Costa Rica, I got to hike through Corcovado near the end of my service.
When I was exploring this beach, Playa Panama, in Costa Rica, I was surprised to come upon a cactus at a far edge of the beach! It seemed to be majestically standing guard over the turquoise blue water.
There are thousands of seashells lying on any given beach, but you really can appreciate each one:
Manzanillo is a half-hour bike ride south of Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica.
It’s nearly in Panama. You feel like you really are “away from it all”, and the truth is, once you leave Puerto Viejo, you are. It does get hot, so bring water to drink…
Or cool off in the water:
