Teddy the Dog – Pet Portrait Painting

I recently finished this dog portrait painting in time for my friend to pick it up tonight and surprise his girlfriend with it!

It’s painted on a gallery-stretched linen canvas – linen is the best for portrait paintings!

Yellow and Blue Dancers – Painting on Paper

It seems that most dance paintings I find are of women, or a woman dancing with a man. Why not just men dancing? I think that in white American culture, it can be stereotyped as, well, you know. But in many cultures around the world, men dancing is just as common as women dancing. I think that’s how it should be.

This acrylic painting is on 11″ x 14″ heavy-weight, acid-free paper.

Lito Marcos – Portrait Art Drawing

My wife and I went to Argentina in August with my mother-in-law, so I wanted to give my mother-in-law a gift that would be relevant to that visit. Since I’m an Artist, I thought of creating a portrait!

So, I drew a portrait of her father Marcos, who was from Buenos Aires and was the son of immigrants from Russia and Poland. He was known to my wife as “Lito Marcos.” “Lito” is short for “abuelito”, or “abuelo”, which means “grandpa” in Spanish.

Lito Marcos Portrait Drawing

Lito Marcos is one of two family members of my wife that I didn’t get to meet (the other was her great-grandmother “Mama Polita” from Ecuador). From all accounts, we would have gotten along great, as he loved to watch sports games on the couch, just like I do!

While I love being out in the country, I also love the look of nature integrated into urban settings, such as flowers in terracotta pots sitting on steps.

This acrylic painting is on a 7″ x 5″ gessobord panel.

Mediterranean Blues and Whites – Ibiza, Spain Painting

It’s been several weeks now that my painting activity has slowed way down. What can I say, I’ve been busy with other things! An artist also needs an artistic break every now and then to regain inspiration.

A few days ago I put brush to gessobord and came up with this small “Mediterranean Blues and Whites” painting for my wife and I to hang in our kitchen. The painting is based on a photo I took in Ibiza.

The Mediterranean region has long been an artistic inspiration for me, from the cultures and foods to the landscapes and seascapes.
