Throwback Thursday Art – Catcher in the Rye

A couple of years ago, a friend came to me for an art commission that was to be an interpretation of a scene from the novel The Catcher in the Rye.

The story from The Catcher in the Rye connected with him on a level that was very close with his own life story.

So I read the book, we came up with a concept for the painting, and this was the end result! Prints on both canvas and paper can be purchased online here.

2/3 done with painting

Just have to add some more depth with the rye, make the sky a bit darker and more dangerous-looking, and add in the main character (possibly my client’s father, in this case), on the cliff.  Until then, here’s what it looks like right now!
