Manzanillo is located on the southern tip of the Limón province on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica, near Panama. In this painting, a palm tree is hanging out in the warm late-morning breeze, next to the Caribbean water gently rolling up to the shore. Red flowers are in bloom on a bush right below the palm tree.
Puerto Viejo Beach Sunset Art Print
This art print is of an oil painting of an evening beach sunset along the shores of Puerto Viejo! Puerto Viejo is just a little further north up the coast from Manzanillo.
These Costa Rica art prints are available as ultra premium prints, unframed or framed, in my Spanglish America Etsy shop. They make for excellent beach decor, especially for those that have vacationed or lived in Costa Rica (I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer there from 2006 to 2008 and came to know the country intimately).
Getting close to finishing this painting! After the paint for the trees dries up (still need to finish the trees on the left-hand side), I’ll add in the foliage. This painting will be a part of the One Loudoun Spring Fine Art Exhibit on May 19th in Ashburn. Painted on Green Artist Canvas.
As I wrote on Loudoun Baby Artist yesterday, this past month has been super busy for my wife and I, what with midwife appointments and preparing for the birth of our son, who was born over a week ago now! We had a home-birth, and he was born in our bedroom with the morning rise of the sun. Thanks be to God. Now I know what everyone meant when they said we’d be tired. Good grief!
Anyhow, I’ve been working on this painting of my nephew, which I started before our son was born. Now that our son is here, I’m trying to finish up this painting so that I can do a painting of our baby boy!
Here is a photo of the progression of the oil portrait of my nephew. It’s getting close to being finished! My sister will be in for a surprise when she receives this in the mail.
It’s been several weeks now that my painting activity has slowed way down. What can I say, I’ve been busy with other things! An artist also needs an artistic break every now and then to regain inspiration.
A few days ago I put brush to gessobord and came up with this small “Mediterranean Blues and Whites” painting for my wife and I to hang in our kitchen. The painting is based on a photo I took in Ibiza.
The Mediterranean region has long been an artistic inspiration for me, from the cultures and foods to the landscapes and seascapes.
I am really enjoying working on this commissioned painting. The colors are coming along beautifully. Just need to fill in a few more areas with some details and then I’ll be shipping it off to the wonderful gentleman in Colorado who commissioned this as a surprise gift for his wife!
