A few weeks back I was going through some boxes of childhood stuff.
My parents, who had hung onto these boxes for years, decided to dump them onto me as they were clearing out their space. So I then hung onto them and am still trying to sort through to decide what to do with it all, but am intent on not letting too much time pass before I clear what needs clearing and organize what I decide to keep. If you cannot relate to this…I don’t know what to tell you.
Well, I pulled out several paintings from my youth, including this one, which I believe I painted when I was around 13 years old!
I must have been dreaming of laying on a beach somewhere on a South Pacific island! Come to think of it…I still dream of that.
Because this painting was on a cheap piece of paper and showing its age, I scanned it and gave it a fresh renovation in Adobe Photoshop.
The inspiration for this seascape painting came from a beach on the Spanish island of Formentera, and the beautiful blue hues of the Mediterranean Sea!
The canvas is made of Texas-grown organic cotton and is hand-stretched and hand-primed. The wood stretcher bars are FSC-certified and the all-natural gesso primer is made of limestone power, French marble dust, water and a touch of honey.
The canvas measures 8″ in height and 20″ in length.
Manzanillo is located on the southern tip of the Limón province on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica, near Panama. In this painting, a palm tree is hanging out in the warm late-morning breeze, next to the Caribbean water gently rolling up to the shore. Red flowers are in bloom on a bush right below the palm tree.
Puerto Viejo Beach Sunset Art Print
This art print is of an oil painting of an evening beach sunset along the shores of Puerto Viejo! Puerto Viejo is just a little further north up the coast from Manzanillo.
These Costa Rica art prints are available as ultra premium prints, unframed or framed, in my Spanglish America Etsy shop. They make for excellent beach decor, especially for those that have vacationed or lived in Costa Rica (I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer there from 2006 to 2008 and came to know the country intimately).
This original cherry blossoms watercolor painting shows three blooming cherry blossom flowers on a tree branch, with hues of rose and pink on the white petals, and a subtle hint of green leaves. It measures 9″ x 12″ and is painted on archival and acid-free watercolor paper.
Enjoy this original seascape watercolor painting for your ocean decor! It combines different hues of blue with a warm orange glow on the horizon. There is a dock that juts out into the water from a sliver of green land on the right-hand side, next to a few palm trees.
Painted on archival and acid-free watercolor paper that measures 9″ in height by 12″ in length. Add an optional wood frame made of natural and unstained U.S. poplar wood with a glass panel for protection.
It feels like it’s been a long while since I’ve written a post here! In the past couple of months, I’ve mostly taken a break from painting, as I’ve been focusing my artistic energy on building out a few of my Etsy shops (The Accounting Artist, Spanglish América and Kids Yoga Art).
However, luckily I have my wife to keep me on track for our personal paintings in our home! There is one that has been pending for some time, and now I’ve got a due date to get it done, which is helpful. It’s of our youngest son doing downward dog, which will match another one I did a couple years ago of our older son doing downward dog.
Here is a progress photo of the painting, which will be a combination of oil (for the portrait part) and acrylic (for the background).
Recently I’ve started a series of 25 world map watercolor paintings for a translation/interpretation company (UNO Translations) to give to their clients for the New Year. Each painting has a unique design – this one is full of roses!
