Oranges on a Sunny Street in Sevilla, Spain – Watercolor Painting

As I’ve written about before, the oranges on the streets in Sevilla, Spain, are one of the magical things I love about the city. Ever since the first time I went there almost 11 years ago, in February 2004, I always think of the scent of oranges by the time February rolls around here in the United States. Every time I eat an orange, the smell reminds me of Sevilla. It’s just a beautiful thing to have fruit trees planted all over a city!

This abstract watercolor painting is of a sunny street full of oranges in Sevilla:

Bike and Cafe Watercolor Painting

Coffee is a daily pastime of mine, which is probably why I love to paint cafes and coffee so much. This watercolor painting shows a sunny street, a parked red bike, and a cafe beckoning you to enter, sit down, take your time, and sip on a coffee. Now that sounds like a day well spent!

The original 9″ x 12″ painting, on archival, acid-free watercolor paper, is available for purchase, as well as 8″ x 10″ archival prints. Just visit the “Buy Art” page for more information.

Mediterranean Blues and Whites – Ibiza, Spain Painting

It’s been several weeks now that my painting activity has slowed way down. What can I say, I’ve been busy with other things! An artist also needs an artistic break every now and then to regain inspiration.

A few days ago I put brush to gessobord and came up with this small “Mediterranean Blues and Whites” painting for my wife and I to hang in our kitchen. The painting is based on a photo I took in Ibiza.

The Mediterranean region has long been an artistic inspiration for me, from the cultures and foods to the landscapes and seascapes.

Mediterranean Sea Spanish Painting – Nerja, Spain

If you ever travel to southern Spain and want to go to the renowned Costa del Sol beaches, may I suggest an alternative to the bustling areas around Málaga?

Nerja:

Nerja Mediterranean View – 12″ x 9″ Oil Painting on Canvas – SOLD

Nerja is nestled into the east end of the Costa del Sol.

Beautiful cliffs, turquoise sea, Spanish cuisine, beaches, what more could you want?

When my wife and I were there, we stayed in a very small village next to Nerja named Maro, and took day trips to the beaches of Nerja.

A crown jewel of Andalucía – Seville, Spain, also known as Sevilla in Spanish.

The Guadalquivir River runs through the city, with the San Telmo Bridge crossing over the river and connecting the long avenue of Paseo de Las Delicias, where the famous Torre de Oro (Gold Tower – built in the early 13th century) stands near the city center, with the large Plaza de Cuba.
